President Armen Sarkissian of Armenia has extended condolences to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin after a Russian Aeroflot passenger plane burst into flames as it made a bumpy emergency landing at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport on Sunday, killing dozens.
In his message to the Russian leader, Sarkissian offered condolences to the families of the deceased, wishing a speedy recovery to the survivors, the presidential office said.
41 people, including two children, died in the wake of the crash landing. There were 78 people, including five crew members, on board the Superjet 100, which had been flying from Moscow to the northern Russian city of Murmansk.
37 people – 33 passengers and four members of the crew – survived the crash.
